Mitch O’Connell

American, b. 1961

Mitch O’Connell is a Chicago-based illustrator, painter, tattoo designer, and the self-proclaimed ‘Prince of Pop Art.’ Mitch O’Connell’s imaginative, vividly colorful pieces are well-executed and unabashedly lowbrow. He draws inspiration from vintage cartoons, pin-ups, comics, and “all things kitsch, cuddly and curvaceous.” His illustrations have been featured in Rolling Stone, Newsweek, The New York Times, Playboy, GQ, and The New Yorker among others. As a freelance artist he has worked with The Ramones, No Doubt, and Moby, in addition to major companies like Coca-Cola, McDonald’s and KFC.
