SCOPE Miami Beach Recap + Online Release

Line Dot was privileged to to be able to bring such gifted artists to SCOPE Miami Beach this year. Max Sansing, Kayla Mahaffey and Steve Seeley are all on the top tier of their craft, and fairgoers agreed, buying out all of Kayla's work and most of Max and Steve's pieces as well. It was an amazing and exciting week for all of us at Line Dot, and we are truly grateful for the incredible response our Chicago-based artists received from the fair's 50,000 attendees.

This includes original paintings by Max Sansing and Steve Seeley along with the remaining handful of Kayla Mahaffey prints that were only available in-person at the show. Unfortunately due to the volume of interest we cannot reserve these pieces ahead of time. Check out the site or come by the gallery on Friday!

SCOPE Miami Beach: Max Sansing, Kayla Mahaffey & Steve Seeley

Booth F15 December 3rd - 8th

Line Dot is thrilled to bring three of Chicago's biggest talents to this year's SCOPE Miami Beach: Max Sansing, Kayla Mahaffey and Steve Seeley. With technical mastery, each of these artists wield acrylic, oil and spray paint to externalize their own inner worlds. Replete with fantastical landscapes, hellacious villains, and unlikely superheroes, the fully-developed worlds presented in these works are both deeply personal and reflective of larger cultural dynamics, drawing on shared references from comic books to afrofuturism, cartoons to Shakespeare.

Unique Hand-Embellished Screen Prints

Just in at Line Dot: a new, exclusive edition of hand-embellished prints from Anthony Lister. These mixed media works on paper explore the theme of female super-villains, and capture the aesthetic magic and frenetic energy of Lister's coveted multi-thousand dollar paintings on canvas.

An early pioneer of the street art movement in Brisbane, Lister is now one of Australia’s most renowned contemporary artists. High and low culture clash in the subject and style of his paintings, resulting in provocative works that are often equally perverse and alluring. This duality is amplified by Lister’s distinct aesthetic: a synthesis of a sophisticated, painterly approach with the grit and exuberance of street art.

Lister’s global art practice encompasses a variety of media from painting and drawing to film and music. His work has been exhibited in major cities around the world and acquired by prominent art institutions including the National Gallery of Australia.

Polly Jiménez: SheBody

Following our previous sold-out solo show with Polly Jiménez of 'Short Stories by Polly' fame, we're thrilled to present a new collection of watercolors and mixed media paintings that celebrate a diverse array of female forms. With 'SheBody' Jiménez explores the relationship between women's bodies and the natural environment as an antidote to machismo culture, creating a space to honor difference across the feminine spectrum.

Polly Jiménez is a fine artist and illustrator from Mexico City known for her delicate, narrative-driven watercolors. Jiménez studied Fine Arts at the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México and Visual Storytelling at the School of Visual Arts in New York. Currently, Jiménez works on a diverse range of illustration projects under the name Short Stories Studio, collaborating with local and high-profile international clients. Some of her recent favorites include illustrating and designing a children's book about corruption in government and leading a workshop for Nike during Air Max Day.

Darts on a Map: A Collection of People, Places, & Personalities

Line Dot is thrilled to announce the opening of ‘Darts On A Map: A Collection of People, Places, and Personalities’ with an artist reception on Saturday, September 21st. Curated by Chicago’s own Czr Prz, the show presents a survey of national and international artists on the forefront of the new contemporary art movement.

The lineup of top established and emerging artists includes: Michael Reeder (Los Angeles), Pixel Pancho (Italy), Kevin Ledo (Canada), Joe Iurato (NYC), Denial (Canada), Marina Zumi (Brazil), Rachel Strum (Los Angeles), Ava Grey Designs (Chicago), Marka27 (Mexico), Sarah Best (NYC), Ian Kuali’i (Hawaii), Nicole Salgar (Miami), Czr Prz (Chicago), and Ozmo (Italy).

Czr Prz says he is excited to be back in a curatorial role, as his rigorous production schedule for both Ava Grey Designs (of which he is a partner) and his own art practice have precluded side projects like this. The show’s title, ‘Darts On A Map’, references the varied geographic locations the participating artists hail from. “It’s like I threw random darts at a map” the artist says laughing. “If you plot all the points, Chicago is kind of the center of them” he continues, “so it seemed fitting to have my city host this show.”

The unifying factor in this seemingly incongruous group of incredibly talented artists is its curator Czr Prz. The participants chosen for ‘Darts On A Map’ highlight the artist’s interpersonal relationships and draw from contacts he’s made over the years through his public art murals and studio practices. Line Dot co-owner Oliver Hild further expounds: “These are people he has shown with, collaborated with, painted with, eaten with and drank with. In some cases they are contemporaries, in other cases mentors, but they all tie in to Czr personally.”

Savannah Jubic + Renée Hrovat: Should We Maybe Reschedule?

Line Dot is thrilled to present ‘Should We Maybe Reschedule?’ featuring original work from emerging Chicago artists Savannah Jubic and Renée Hrovat. In distinct yet complementary art practices, Jubic and Hrovat explore the anxieties and obsessions of the modern moment through labor-intensive gestures spanning multiple media. We invite you to join us for wine, beer, and kombucha on tap during an opening reception with the artists from 6-9pm.

‘Should We Maybe Reschedule?’ reflects the central tensions of the contemporary human condition, from artificiality to reality, constant interaction to loneliness, excessive consumption to emptiness. Processes such as hand-weaving, oil painting, and embroidery lend materiality to these abstract concepts, opening a space for direct physical engagement with the intangible. Each artist offers an intimate glimpse into their personal fixations and vulnerabilities as an invitation to the viewer to reflect on—and connect with—their own experiences.
